ROBERTS, Piercy – Britannia flogging a naughty boy. London, Roberts, n.d. (1815)
Plate: 270 x 349mm; Sheet: 282 x 353mm; Hand-coloured etching; sligthly stained
John Bull carrying Napoleon on his back whilst Britannia beating the Emperor’s bare buttocks with a hard-broom. The cartoon probably was made after Napoleon’s defeat at Waterloo and his failed escape to America. We couldn’t locate another copy. Not in the established collections. Very rare.
Not in BM Satires, Broadley, Arenenberg, Grand-Carteret, Clerc
