(Jeu de l’oie) France, n.d. (c.1840) 440 x 595mm. Pen and ink with watercolor on paper. Mounted on cardboard.

This is a very rare example of a handpainted French game board from the first half of the 19th century. The game consists of 63 spaces with the rules written in three of four outer corners of the board. The individual playing fields primarily show furnishings, furniture and buildings. Who reaches the garden of the geese at the center, wins the game.
