LZ 129 Hindenburg. Zeppelin Weltfahrten III. Buch. Dresden, Zigarettenfabrik Greiling AG, 1937. oblong-folio [24 x 34 cm] [8] pp., 28 ll. With two plates, one folded construction plan and 155 mounted photos. Original pictorial wrappers.
FIRST EDITION. The Zeppelin LZ 129 Hindenburg and its airship sister LZ 130 Graf Zeppelin II were the two largest rigid airships ever built. The maiden voyage of LZ 129 was in March 1936. On May 6, 1937, it was destroyed during the landing in Lakehurst (New Jersey, USA), as the hydrogen filling ignited. 35 of the 97 people on board and one member of the ground crew were killed. The present album was taken off the market shortly after release due to the Lakehurst disaster and is one of the great Zeppelin rarities. – very good condition.
