With 9 engraved plates. – First German edition of La Chiromantie naturelle (Lyon, 1653). Jean-Antoine Rampalle, known as Pierre de Saint-André, was born in Isle-sur-la-Sorgue in 1624 and died in Rome in 1671. He was a French Carmelite, Poet, historian and translator. He became the definitive general of his order.
II) SPADONI, Nicola – Studium curiosum… Darinnen von der Physiognomia, Chiromantia und Metoposcopia, Das ist: Von den Deutungen der Gestalt/ Hand- und Stirn-Linien gehandelt wird. With 4 engraved plates. – First and only German edition of the influental Studio di curiosita. (Venice, 1662). Spadoni

Elsholtz was born in 1623 in Frankfurt an der Oder and died in 1688 in Berlin. He was a German physician, botanist, chemist and naturalist. He was Hofmedicus, Hofbotanicus and alchemist at the court of the Elector Friedrich Wilhelm of Brandenburg. He is considered one of the most important German scholars of the natural sciences of the 17th century.

2) Rare first edition. Despite claiming it to be a translation of an old Arabic manuscript, this book is most probably the work of a German author. Within his preface the author cites Robert Fludd, Trithemius, Cornelius Agrippa, Gerolamo Cardano, Henri di Pisis and Pietro d’Abano as authorities.
