This caricature is inspired by a painting by Guillaume Guillon-Lethiere (1760-1832) ‚Philoctete dans l’ile de Lemnos‘. The image alludes to the miserable fate of the Homeric hero. Napoleon-Philoctetes is depicted as solitary on a small island with all the attributes of the mythological hero.
